Volanta & Afripump handpumps

The Volanta flywheel pump has a metal or concrete pedestal with a flywheel + counterweight. The flywheel enables a smooth continuous motion,

whereas the pump can also easily be operated with a mechanical device. Another specific advantage of the Volanta is that the water comes out

of the T-piece under pressure; therefore the Volanta pump can fill up an elevated water tank. When intensively used, the Volanta may need

some spare parts every 3 to 5 years (the T-piece pressure seals and the upper connecting rod bearing) which are standard items that can easily

be obtained locally. The Afripump has a handle in a small pedestal. The optional counterweight inside the handle allowsfor easy pumping at greater

depth. Through its simple and robust design, the Afripump does not need any spare parts for as much as 15 to 25 years.
